David Phillips has gained qualifications in both accountancy and law. In 2012 I joined the Society of Will Writers after passing the examination of Inheritance Tax, Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney and Trusts, I have now the highest designation of Fellowship both with the Society of Will Writers and with the Instute of Paralegals.
To maintain knowledge of a professional standard, for the Society of Will Writers I am required to complete a minimum of 16 hours each year that involves both attending meetings at the head office, and taking monthly tests on various topics involving estate planning.
As a Fellowship member of the Institute of Paralegals this requires, as a condition of membership, to complete monthly tests to maintain knowledge, and to keep skills well honed. Paralegals specialise in estate planning and advice.
To further my knowledge in Wills, Trusts, Probate and Inheritance Tax, I enrolled on a degree level course in these subjects, consisting of 10 assignments, and a 3 hour exam in Glasgow.
